What is Breast Lift?

Breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure performed to correct breast sagging and achieve a more lifted position. Over time, breasts can sag due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or genetic factors. During mastopexy, excess skin is removed, breast tissue is reshaped, and the nipple is repositioned higher.

This procedure does not increase or decrease breast volume; however, it can be combined with breast augmentation or reduction if desired.

How is Breast Lift Performed?

Breast lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours. The surgeon makes incisions around the nipple, along the breast crease, or in an inverted T-shape to remove excess skin and tissue. The nipple and areola are moved higher, and the breast tissue is reshaped.

Patients usually stay in the hospital for one day or overnight. There may be mild swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in the first few days.
